What they were sold.

Ben Calf Robe Society runs education, family and cultural programs in Edmonton, and has for years. The site they had was a template on a page builder, set up by an outside vendor and billed every month.

The arrangement failed in the ordinary way. The design belonged to a builder theme rather than to the organization. Programs changed and the site did not, because changing it meant going back to the vendor. The fee kept arriving either way.

What we built.

Eleven pages, drawn from the society's own material rather than a theme, so the site finally looks like the organization it belongs to.

The decision that mattered was structural rather than visual. Everything that changes lives in plain files: programs, news, events, the calendar, board members, contact details. A staff member signs in, clicks the words to change, types and publishes, and the change is saved back into those files. The site updates in about a minute. No page builder, no monthly licence, no plugin that breaks.

A help window on the site answers the questions visitors ask most, using the pages themselves, so nobody keeps the same fact current in two places.

Hosting costs nothing.

The pages are plain files, published straight to a network that keeps a copy near whoever is reading. No server to keep running, no database to back up, no monthly platform fee. Hosting genuinely costs the organization nothing.

Now it is theirs.

All of it belongs to Ben Calf Robe Society. Not a licence to use the site, the files themselves, and with them the design, the domain and the accounts. It shipped with instructions in plain language, written for whoever inherits the job rather than for a developer, and those same instructions cover how to publish a change.

A staff member with no technical background can keep the site current without calling anyone. That was the requirement on the first day, and it decided every choice above. They could stop speaking to us tomorrow and nothing on the site would switch off.

The site is not public yet. It opens on the society's own domain at launch, and until then we will walk you through it on a call or in person.
